Solange Umuhoza

Data Scientist
Solange Umuhoza graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Data Science and a minor in Mathematics from the College of William & Mary. She continued her studies at William & Mary, earning a Master of Science in Computer Science in 2024, with a focus on Computational Operations Research.
During her academic career, Solange interned at 2nd Order Solutions (2OS) in the summer of 2023, where she conducted a comparative analysis of Gradient Boosting Machines (GBMs) and Explainable Boosting Machines (EBMs). Her work evaluated model performance across feature selection, predictive accuracy, computational efficiency, and explainability using multiple real-world datasets.
Following graduation, Solange rejoined 2OS in the summer of 2024 as a full-time team member. She has since contributed to a range of projects within the credit risk industry, including credit risk model development, loss forecasting, credit line increase models, and broader customer risk decisioning strategies.
Outside of work, Solange enjoys cooking, hiking, and spending time with friends. She is also currently learning how to use a sewing machine.
