How has 2OS supported your development over time?

2OS’s transparency has played a major role in my development. From starting at the firm, I’ve always had clear expectations for the skills and competencies I should build, helping me to set concrete goals and understand how I’m progressing. Both formal and informal feedback are core to our culture, so I regularly learn what I’m doing well and where I can improve on each project. Analysts are also paired with a Development Manager who meets with them regularly and serves as a guide and advocate. My Development Manager has helped me identify growth opportunities and has made sure I’m staffed on projects where I can contribute meaningfully while continuing to stretch my skills. Overall, I’ve consistently felt that 2OS leadership is genuinely invested in my success, both at the firm and beyond. -Cameron

2OS has supported my development through regular feedback, mentorship, and open communication. I’ve never felt surprised by feedback from managers or leadership because there is a constant dialogue around how I’m doing, where I’m improving, and what I can keep working on. The people here genuinely care about helping you get better at your job, and they are willing to invest the time to coach you and give constructive feedback. That level of support has made it easier to grow, take on more responsibility, and continue building confidence over time. -Chris

What has your experience been with mentorship at 2OS?

My experience with mentorship at 2OS has been very positive. I’ve felt supported the entire time I’ve been here, and it really feels like mentors and managers are on your team throughout your career. They’re there to help you develop, answer questions, and work through parts of the job where you may not feel as confident yet. One thing I’ve also found unique is that while 2OS has a strong promote-from-within culture, people are still supported in making the best decisions for their own careers. I’ve seen colleagues move on to the next step outside of 2OS with the full support of their mentors and the firm, which says a lot about how much people here genuinely care about your growth. -Chris

What would you tell someone considering a role here?

It’s a fantastic place to start your career. The skills you build at 2OS, whether it’s technical modeling, client communication, or strategic thinking, are transferable to just about any industry. You’ll work alongside really smart people and build a resume that stands out. If you’re looking for a place where you can grow quickly, do meaningful work, and have a great time doing it, 2OS is the right fit. -Katie

That 2OS is an amazing place to work, especially early in your career. You will get exposure to all sorts of different projects and experiences, be in a warm and supporting environment with really smart people, and get plenty of opportunities to develop a valuable skill set that can be applied anywhere, not necessarily just in financial services. -Reese

Choosing to work full-time at 2OS after graduating college has been one of my best decisions! I genuinely look forward to coming into the office each day because I find the work meaningful, enjoy the people I work with, and get to be a part of a collaborative and engaged culture. For someone early in their career, it can be hard to find a place that pushes you to grow while still respecting your life outside of work, but 2OS has struck that balance really well. I have constant opportunities to learn, take on new challenges, and develop professionally, while also feeling truly supported as a person. -Cameron

What has your experience been like working at 2OS?

I interned at 2OS the summer before my final year at UVA and came back full-time in July 2023. 2OS has great people, incredible learning opportunities, and the chance to work with high-profile clients right from the start. One of the things I appreciate most is that your voice is genuinely heard here even at the start of your career.

During my time at 2OS, I’ve had the chance to work across a variety of project types, which keeps the work exciting and engaging. I’ve contributed to due diligence engagements, built valuation models, developed XGBoost models for everything from pricing to credit risk, and worked within model risk management for generative AI. I’ve had to opportunity to work with international clients, including two trips to Australia. Every project brings something new, and I’m constantly learning. -Katie

What makes working at a boutique firm different from working at a larger company?

I love this question. At a boutique like 2OS, you’re in the room with senior executives and presenting to clients early in your career. Your work has a direct and visible impact on the engagement, and you get to switch between project types frequently, so you’re always picking up new skills.

The other thing I really value is that you actually know everyone in the company. That might sound small, but it builds real camaraderie and makes the whole environment feel personal. If you have a question or want to learn about a different area of the business, you can just walk over and ask. There’s nothing standing between you and leadership. -Katie

In what ways does the work you do feel meaningful or impactful?

I would say there are two pieces that come to mind for this, both of which I have found to be defining characteristics of my 2OS experience. First, by nature of the industry we are in, we are brought in to help figure out a challenging problem. Most of the projects that we do have a tangible thing or deliverable that we are building – whether that is a model, new strategy, or other solution. I have found that having something to point to at the end of the project makes the work feel more impactful. Similarly, I think being able to point to specific parts of that solution that you helped build makes a huge difference in feeling like you’ve made an impact. Since my first project at 2OS, I have felt rewarded by having portions of a project I feel ownership of that I can see through from start to finish. For me, having plenty of opportunities to problem-solve, work in white space, and have my thoughts and ideas heard by leadership (both internally at 2OS and at our clients) makes my individual contributions feel meaningful. -Reese

How would you describe the culture of the firm?

There are three things that I think really describe the culture I’ve experienced at 2OS: flexibility, trust, and people. Each play a role in both the everyday logistics of working at 2OS (for example, deciding when to work from home or what being in the office is like), and also in how we approach our work. When I was going through the recruiting process, everyone I talked to at 2OS answered with “the people” when asked about what the best part of working here is. Now that I have been here for a few years, I echo this sentiment. Everyone is welcoming, friendly, and genuinely willing to jump in and help out on things both inside and outside of work. Another piece of the culture that I think is unique is the flexibility. I feel empowered to set my schedule and figure out an idea for how to do something. The trust everyone has in each other is a huge part of what creates the flexibility I value so much. -Reese

What type of work have you had the opportunity to do?

At 2OS, I get the opportunity to support a wide range of projects across the credit lifecycle. I’ve worked on a credit card transformation for a top five bank, helped propose a new pricing model for a regional card issuer, and worked with smaller lenders to strengthen their loan collections strategies. Beyond client work, I’ve also contributed to internal projects such as developing pitches for potential clients and conducting industry research. One of my favorite parts of the role is that the work varies so much from project to project, which means my days rarely look the same. I’m able to build skills in communication, data analytics, client management, and research while learning about different types of companies across the financial services industry. -Cameron

What have you enjoyed most about working with clients or on project teams?

What I’ve enjoyed most is the level of exposure and responsibility you get on client work early on. Within just a few months, I was able to contribute to important projects and help create real value for clients in a way that felt immediate. I’ve also really enjoyed the variability of the clients and projects. No two clients ever feel the same, and because we’re small and nimble as a firm, the work doesn’t feel cookie-cutter. It’s rewarding to work on teams where the work matters, your input is trusted, and you can see how your contributions make a difference. -Chris
